A case study illuminating why the U.S. higher education system is going to shit.
At tonight's Department faculty meeting, before the majority voted to get rid of the History Major language requirement despite protests by *two* (two) of us: "Who gets anything out of a year of foreign language study, anyway?"

I mean, seriously: Fuck. Me. This entire state university system is about numbers (who gets the highest enrollment) and no one seems to care about quality of education. What the fuck do these kids pay tens of thousands of dollars each year for...

If I want to be Having A Job in Academia Education Woman, I kind of have to keep my mouth shut for the short term. Which also sucks. But at least there are cookies and promises of high-quality color reproductions of 16th century pharmacopoeia images from kind German folks. And biore pore strips. We at least have that. Also: powdered sugar.
Don't forget the free blow jobs from the blow job elves. That's a great perk.
