tyranny of spring

Last August an attractive 23 year old blond woman moved into our office. She is sweet, charming, and dresses in the manner of a fashionable art student that is comfortable showing no small amount of skin.

This caused no small consternation in the office. You're sitting down, trying to write code, trying to focus on some technical email, and your eye glances off the edge of your monitor and you think 'can I make out her areola through that top?' It makes focus, shall we say, difficult. Don't even get Jeremy going on the smell of whatever lotion she uses.

Much to our collective relief, as the months went by we got accustomed to her, and we slowly regained the ability to focus on things like code and organizing the worlds information.

Or so I thought.

The weather turned warm for the first time in an age today. I realize now that it's not that I grew accustomed to her so much as she was forced to wear more clothing in winter. Sigh. Luckily, she sits behind me in the current office configuration, otherwise I might as well quit now and spare the company the drama of firing me.

Under the spring snow,
the hills.
